Winnie the Pooh's Home Run Derby is a Flash game based on the Winnie the Pooh franchise by Disney, which in turn, is based off a children's book series by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard. This was released in 2008 in Japan and then English speaking regions shortly after.

Bad Qualities

  1. The main issue with this game is that the game is very unresponsive and rushed, and, at times, even broken, because for one thing, no matter what speed the ball is being thrown at, at least half the time, you will end up missing due to the game not registering your hits on the ball, and even if you do, the speed and the direction and speed of the ball is almost entirely dependent on luck because you have no way to control it, making it more than likely to miss, either by fowl balls, or hitting it too short.
  2. Because of how unresponsive and poorly programmed it is, it makes the game incredibly different for all the wrong reasons:
    • Because of this, it leaves very little room for error to get the correct number of home runs to complete a level.
    • As you progress through the game, it becomes even worse, giving you even fewer chances to get home runs.
    • Even by upgrading, it does so little to help this issue that you almost never notice, unless you upgrade it a lot.
  3. There are several issues with the music and sounds:
    • When you get a fowl ball by landing it into the water, there is a complete lack of water sounds, further emphasizing how rushed the game is.
    • There are only two songs that play throughout the entire game, and they gets old REALLY FAST! Also, they both sound too similar to each other.
  4. Even for a Winnie the Pooh game, you can only play as Pooh himself, leaving you with an extreme lack of characters to play as.
  5. It's quite unfaithful to the book series it was based off, as well as the media franchise that Disney spawned, only being faithful in name, and characters only.
  6. You cannot pause at all, meaning that once you miss the minimum amount of home runs required to pass the level, you have to sit there until the level is done to start over.

Good Qualities

  1. The animation looks well done.
  2. The sound effects and the two songs that the game does have are at least pleasant to listen to despite being very repetitive.
  3. Due to its cult following status, this game is considered so bad its good.
  4. The ball rolling physics is really good even for a Flash game.
