Toy Story 3 is a video game developed by Avalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive Studios in 2010, based off the movie of the same name for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Microsoft Windows, and macOS.

The PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable versions were instead developed by Asobo Studio.

This page will focus on the Nintendo DS version which was developed by n-Space.

Why It Got Sent to the Caterpillar Room

  1. While the graphics are better than the PS2 and PSP versions, they're still poor, especially for a 2010 game. It looks like a watered-down Xbox or Nintendo GameCube port of any game instead of a DS game.
  2. In this port, you have to do the exact same thing in the levels, similar to Independence Day and BFDIA 5b, which can be basically considered as "mindless spamming".
  3. There are only eight levels. Meaning that you can beat in less than three hours.
  4. Some of the playtime and imagination levels can be really long, which can be a waste of time on those levels. Even Sonic Heroes' special levels, despite being bad too, are shorter than the levels from this port.
  5. Like the PS2 and PSP versions, this port lacks Toy Box mode, and there's only playtime mode, which is very boring, especially since the game forces you to play it several times throughout the game. The main reason why the Toy Box mode was removed in this port is that it was developed by n-Space (as mentioned before).
  6. Horrible game controls. To jump in the first level, you can't press one of the buttons. You have to move the stylus on the down screen upward to do it. The movement is sluggish, which can make you hit something to lose Pixar balls.
  7. Very short story. It's even a repetitive one.
  8. Woody's double jumping can be extremely hard, due to how bad the controls are, especially when using the stylus just to jump rather than pressing any buttons that would make Woody jump.
  9. The gameplay is boring. In fact, it's so boring, it makes you wish you were playing a different game, or even the current gen console version of this game.
  10. The imagination sequences feel very tedious to finish.
  11. The music is repetitive in some areas, and so is some of the voice acting.
  12. Horrible models that look like they are actually from the PSP version without expressions.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The soundtrack is pretty good and fits the Toy Story theme perfectly.
  2. It decently follows the story of the movie.

Reception

Toy Story 3 for Nintendo DS received mixed reviews, mainly from users. It received a 5.8 rating on Metacritic.
