Swamp Thing is a platforming game that was made by Imagineering and published by THQ in 1992. The game is based on the TV show of the same name. You play as Dr. Alec Holland, who is a biochemist, who created a formula. Dr. Arcane tries to steal the formula by setting a bomb to his house. The bomb left Dr. Alec Holland on fire and then ran into a swamp, thus giving him the nickname Swamp Thing.

Why It Sucks

  1. It’s nothing more than a reskin of Bartman Meets Radioactive Man.
  2. Poor use of the source material.
    • During the boss fight, Dr. Arcane looks nothing like him.
  3. Very bland soundtrack that is very repetitive and sounds nothing like the TV show it is based on.
  4. Swamp Thing moves very slow, you often have to jump your way through the level.
    • It also doesn’t help that just like The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants, you use the A button to accelerate, which is the same button you use to jump, which makes it even more tedious.
      • It also doesn’t help that it reuses the game engine from said game.
  5. Terrible looking graphics even by NES standards.
  6. It is also a hard game, from the tedious level design, to even the controls as mentioned above.
    • You can't punch in crouching position, not to mention how bad the hit-detection is.
    • Your life meter carries over when you beat a part of the level.
    • Very few continues, you don't get this opportunity to continue until after you beat a member of the Un-Men.
    • Some enemies cannot get punched, and you may be taking damage trying to find that out.
