NHL 16 is an ice hockey video game made by EA Sports Canada as the video game for the 2015-16 NHL Season and was suppose to improve off of last years game, NHL 15, but failed doing that.

Why It Doesn't Score A Goal

PS4/Xbox One Versions

  1. Constant freezing, which didn't happen when it first came out.
  2. The same orchestral menu music from NHL 15 is in NHL 16, without the EA Trax option.
    • However, NHL Legacy Edition, the PS3 and Xbox 360 port has the soundtrack playing in the menu.
  3. Morale system is a disaster.
  4. Be A GM, Be a Pro, and everything else with the exception of HUT is very shallow.
  5. Menu screens are slow and unresponsive.
  6. The menu screen background is ugly.
  7. Potentials go down even if a player has a 100 point season!
  8. Be a Pro has broken logic. 2BCProductions2BC had his pro get 60 points as an enforcer, which was the best player on the team, just to be sent down to the minors for no reason.
  9. AI is really dumb. Players have shot the puck off the net on a penalty kill!
  10. Turbo menu glitch that cant be stopped for several minutes

Legacy Edition (PS3/360)

  1. The PS3 and Xbox 360 ports of this game are reskins of NHL 14 and 15 on the same consoles with a roster and soundtrack update and the title was changed to NHL Legacy Edition.
  2. Be A Legend Mode, as well as the Legends team has been removed.
  3. Small soundtrack with only 10 alternative/indie songs.
  4. The Winter Classic rosters for the 2011 Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins, along with the 2012 New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, were changed to remove players who retired during or after the 2013-14 NHL season.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Not as paper thin as NHL 15.
  2. Be a Pro is at least playable unlike in NHL 15.
  3. Gameplay is much faster and smoother than NHL 15.
  4. The on ice trainer may be helpful for beginners.
  5. Improved NBC presentation, as the NBC changed it's score bug at the start of 2015.

Despite the game was met with generally positive reviews from critics, it has received a mixed-to-negative reception from the fans, on Metacritic, the PS4 version has a user score of 5.5, the Xbone One Version has a user score of 6.0, the PS3 version has a user score of 6.2, the Xbox 360 version has a user score of 4.1.
