Five Nights at Freddy's Fan Games

At least you should put some effort in the fan game you created to "honor" your beloved franchise.

Five Nights at Freddy's is a now-famous game franchise created by Scott Cawthon, composed of six main games and an RPG spin-off. While the original games had at least an interesting plotline, fast-paced gameplay for a horror game, and scary game overs, they brought a large number of rip-offs and a really obnoxious fan base, which is often considered one of the worst fandoms.

Most of these games are hosted on sites like Game Jolt, and some used to be on Scratch until they started getting deleted.

Why Many of Them Suck

  1. The overwhelming majority of them are straight-up clones of the original games, with little to no new features whatsoever. For example, various games are made just as a tribute to a character they like. According to Markiplier, there are over 2000 of them created on Game Jolt!
  2. Some of them copy their plots from fanfiction pretty much verbatim, often without crediting the original author or getting their consent.
  3. Many of these games are theory-bait made to give fans an easy time finding out the backstory.
  4. Much like the gameplay, the plots and new characters added are often generic and uninteresting.
  5. Many of them are made by people with little to no programming knowledge, making them have a huge amount of glitches, low-quality graphics, and often remain unsupported. Often, they even steal art and audio assets from the official games.
  6. Following the reason above, most of them are made on Scratch of all things, and sometimes Game Jolt, which is hardly better.
  7. Some pages with original screenshots created for supposed upcoming games are just an attempt to gain followers, and the "developer" is just a modeler with no real intention to make the proposed game.
  8. The few games that have any redeeming qualities are hard to find and are often announced early. Thus, they take a frustratingly long time until release or official cancellation. Sometimes, the developer simply deletes the page and/or just disappears without a trace.
  9. Some fan game developers cannot handle criticism and will tell their fanbase to attack critics and even Scott Cawthon (original developer of the FNaF franchise) himself!
  10. Some of these have viruses, adware, or even malware. I.e. Game Jolt and PlayStore/Appstore
  11. Most part of the most-awaited fangames get canceled by the developers.
  12. Tons of overrated fangames, such as Five Nights at Thomas (Which was listed on the redeeming qualities for some reason), Five nights at Sonic's (Maniac Mania does not count as that game does not look like the games original style.)
  13. As of now, you can no longer search for FNAF games on Scratch, which means that those games get taken down.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. As stated above, there is a minority of FNaF fan games that are interesting and well-made, for example, there's The Joy of Creation, Five Nights At Freddy's: FredbearFNAF Simulator (UE4 Edition), Five Nights at Sonic's: Maniac Mania, Five Nights at Candy's (Five Nights at Candy's 2 is an exception), Tyke & Sons Lumber Co., Five Nights at Wario's, Five Nights at Treasure Island, Fredbear and Friends: Left to Rot, Jolly, Jollibees, Five Nights at the Krusty Krab, Five Nights at the Chum Bucket, Dormitabis, FDNAM 3, Baby's Nightmare Circus, Fredbear's Fright, One Night at Flumpty's, Final Nights, Fun Times at Homer's, Popgoes, A Shadow Over Freddy's, Super FNAF, Five Nights at Smudgers, Five Nights at Freddy's Episode trilogy or even RPG spinoff like the Five Nights at F***boys trilogy. This applies to a great portion of the clones of Five Nights at Freddy's 4 with original graphics.
    • A game that got its page released in 2020 called Five Nights at Freddy's Episode 1 looks very interesting. Even if we don't know many things about it, we can know the developer Mangy is giving his best for this game and he's recreating the FNaF story, which means the game will be one of the best.
  2. Some of the games can be based on real-life attractions like Disney's Treasure Island.
  3. There are poor games that got improved now, like Five Nights at Leon's [R].
  4. There are tons of underrated FNAF fan games on Scratch, which is mostly hated because most FNAF fan games on scratch are poorly made.

FNAF is 12+, so these shouldn't even be on Scratch.

Not sure about you but I don't really like the idea of generalization pages that insult an entire genere based on some games that fall into it.
