Rise of the Planet of the Apes (chronologically) Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier (by release date)
Next Game:
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (chronologically)
Crisis on the Planet of the Apes is a video game developed by Imaginati Studios and co-published by FoxNext Games, The Imaginarium, and Creative England for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4 on April 3, 2018. It serves to create a side story set between the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Why It Sucks
There is a graphics bug that sometimes makes the apes' fur disappear, making them look like simian versions of Howard the Alien.
Poor grasp of the franchise's lore.
Wasted the talents of Andy Serkis, as he served as the game's producer and motion capture actor and reprised his role as Caeser for the game.
The game is full of object-clipping glitches.
The game has issues with optimization which can occur during battle sequences.
The game has a useless autosave system that saves very rarely in between sequences.
Clunky walking and climbing mechanics.
While the reboot franchise focuses more on philosophy, the game throws it all out for action.
Extremely short, being easily completed in 2 and a half hours.
Only 3 guns are available to use in the game.
No pickups, explosives or healing at all
The AI is totally broken. The enemy AI will just simply stand at one side and watch you awkwardly try picking up objects, no thanks to the game's clunky controls.
Thanks to the clunky walking mechanics, your ape character ends up moving really slow, which can get annoying really quickly when you have to take part in some action sequences.
The enemy AI always spout out one-liners like "You damn ape!" a lot, which gets annoying very fast.
The guns handle very poorly thanks to the clunky controls.
Redeeming Qualities
At least Andy Serkis did a really good job reprising his role as Caeser.
There are references to the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise that will satisfy fans of the franchise.
