Despite being overshadowed by its British and French counterparts, Poland is the home of one of the most sophisticated gaming industry in Europe. Many of Polish games, especially from 2000s, were either a low-budget games (especially published by Play-publishing, City Interactive and IQ Publishing) or a hit-or-miss titles which tried to gain international recognition via unique concept (that sometimes even became controversial). While some of these games such as the original Painkiller, the original Gears of War, Bulletstorm, Dying Light, and especially The Witcher franchise received critical acclaim, these are not one of them.
