Auto Modellista is a racing game developed and published by Capcom. It was first released on the PlayStation 2 in 2002 in Japan and 2003 overseas before being ported to GameCube and Xbox. It was the first of Capcom's three online-focused games for the PS2, the others being Monster Hunter and Resident Evil: Outbreak.

Why It Sucks

  1. Terrible driving model.
  2. Poorly translated text.
  3. Badly organized menus.
  4. Limited opponent AI.
  5. If you bounce off a wall at the right angle, you won't lose a lot of speed, negating the desire to master the game's handling model.
  6. Irritating announcer.
  7. Engine sounds and sound effects lack variety.
  8. The GameCube version doesn't have the online component of the Xbox and PS2 versions.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Gorgeous cel-shaded visuals.
  2. Lots of licensed cars.
  3. Many customization options.
  4. Incredible music.
  5. Online play is smooth.


Auto Modellista received mixed reviews, with critics praising the visuals and criticizing the driving model. The game was a commercial failure for Capcom, and while it was followed by a sequel, Group S Challenge for Xbox, Capcom ceased involvement in racing games since, though they did publish a series of MotoGP games developed by Milestone S.r.l.
