Discussions about Microsoft, the shady stuff they have been pulling this generation, as well as the good stuff they did that made them a household name in the console market in the past.

The one thing that concerns me about this company:

SuperStreetKombat (talkcontribs)

Now, I don't have a problem with the idea of this company buying publishers or developers and all, but I'm worried at some point, they might own, like, 90% of every video game company, thus creating a freakin' monopoly in the process.

Just FYI, I'm not actually mad about them buying Activision/Blizzard, 'cause both of those companies need some serious re-hibilitation, but I am worried about a potential monopoly that Microsoft will have in the future.

I agree. Back in the 2000s they had way less studios yet still produced a lot of awesome exclusive games. Nowadays, their exclusives are often mediocre and they're relying heavily on Halo, Gears and Forza. These constant acquisitions are honestly pointless since they bought 4 studios and created a new studio in 2018, those are all the studios they needed. I think it's because of the massive success of Xbox Game Pass that they've become crazy addicted to it, therefore becoming crazy addicted to buying more and more studios.

SuperStreetKombat (talkcontribs)

Sunset Overdrive was pretty good, though. Ori and the Blind Forest and its sequel look pretty cool, too.

MirahezeGDPR a72698f12518ac68a14e657841e4d7bc (talkcontribs)

Those are great games, no doubt, but those aren't exclusives (though Sunset Overdrive originally was). In fact, Sunset overdrive was pretty much one of the few unique lucky gems on the Xbox One but it unfortunately had low sales so any chance of it getting a sequel is unlikely.

SuperStreetKombat (talkcontribs)

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the Ori games becoming multiplatform after being ported to the Switch.

Freighttrain (talkcontribs)

First let's just see if ActiBliz improves the quality control on their games before we start worrying.

SuperStreetKombat (talkcontribs)

Well, I can see a good majority of them being Xbox exclusives now (though Overwatch 2 might still be multiplat as planned), and hopefully, Microsoft will put an end to the yearly releases of Call of Duty.

I expect them to have a big convention at E3 this year because of the acquisition.

Freighttrain (talkcontribs)

Geez I've only played the originsl StarCraft and the multiplayer of one of the earlier CoD games, I guess this topic doesn't really need my input, but I've asked people if I've been missing out, and I've been hearing that I shouldn't worry as ActiBliz hasn't put out anything quality since 2008.

I have a friend who plays the Overwatch and possibly the latest CoD games, he says Overwatch is kind of sucky but I'd have to ask him if he still keeps up with CoD.

DeadPixel (talkcontribs)

This is why calling Nintendo the Disney of video games is not an accurate comparison.

SuperStreetKombat (talkcontribs)

Acquisition-wise, Microsoft is Disney, but quality products and dumb decisions-wise, Nintendo is Disney.

Freighttrain (talkcontribs)

Dude, Disney hasn't put out anything quality since the late 90s.

SuperStreetKombat (talkcontribs)

(cough cough) the first Frozen. (cough cough) Wreck-It Ralph. (wheeeeeeeeeeze) The Owl House.

Ivanov Quirkafleeg (talkcontribs)

(sneeze) Gravity Falls.

Freighttrain (talkcontribs)

What are you guys like 10 years old and high on Fruit Loops.

Ivanov Quirkafleeg (talkcontribs)

We're just trying to prove your point wrong about Disney not bringing any good shows or movies since the late 90s.

Freighttrain (talkcontribs)

So, how does that prove me wrong? Oh hoh ho sorry I see you said 'trying to', my bad.

Should we rename the page to Microsoft’s business practices?

Summary by Allistayrian

Not this time, Mr. TouhouFumoEnjoyer! Microsoft is not Microsoft Business Practices Inc.

TouhouOtaku (talkcontribs)

Microsoft is a good company and the page focuses on their business decisions. Should we rename the page or not?

King Dice (talkcontribs)

Sounds exagerated in my opinion

Blazikeye535 (talkcontribs)

SuperStreetKombat (talkcontribs)

I agree with Blazikeye. At this rate, we're pretty much giving every company here a "business practices" page.

Katsumi a.k.a. Upperdecker2562 (talkcontribs)

No way.

Okay, so I own a Windows 10 Stream laptop and a week ago, I accidentally installed a virus on my computer, and I didn't have cell phone service (I had Wi-Fi) so I had to wait until my mom renews my phone service.

When I got the service back, I contacted them today to fix my computer. My god it was a nightmare.

First off, the "supporters" were actually Indian women, which meant some of the things they say made no sense.

Anyways, when I called them, a woman said my computer was being hacked (not in a good way like homebrew). Then she said she would fix my computer right away, and I should follow her instructions.

Well, her "instructions" made no sense at all. First, she told me to hold the Windows key and the 'R' key at the same time, which didn't work. Then, she told me to restart my computer, which, again, didn't work

She hung up on me and another woman came and told me the same "instructions."

That woman hung up on me and then the other woman came back. She asked me her phone number (what phone number are you calling from) and I told her the contact number. She got frustrated and told me what my number was. I told her my number, and she said she was going to have some mechanic to come to my house and fix it. I said no, and to quote 'WTSN #1," she said I can have my computer fixed for 300 bucks! I said no, and she said my computer cannot be fixed, and I hung up.

FUCK MICROSOFT! They are greedy dirtbags who only care about $$$. They are the worst company ever. I will never buy any of their products again unless it is from Xbox 360.

CyanFire (talkcontribs)

I mean, often times support isn't actually run by Microsoft themselves and is often licensed out to "Microsoft partners", which is why the technical support provides a different response than Microsoft themselves normally would. I guess the best bit of advice to take away from this is just to not do the thing that gave you a virus in the first place, or if you do, download something along the lines of Malwarebytes. It should fix the issue no problem.

Pinky Malinky (talkcontribs)

I can't now, because my laptop keeps blocking me off

CyanFire (talkcontribs)

Can you elaborate?

JaguarByte Productions (talkcontribs)

I once had 1 virus (2013 toshiba laptop) and once I fucked up the laptop (2007 toshiba) , by making .exe files unaccessible , because of the dumbass I am. I got rid of the virus with Windows Defender and fixed the 2007 laptop myself.

Seanbuscus2600 (talkcontribs)

Their shitty customer service is one of the main reasons why I moved on to the PS4 and chunked my Xbox 360.

Story Time: My girlfriend recieved a 2-year Gold membership for her 17th birthday, for her 360. All of a sudden, Microsoft took it away from her just 3 months later, even though she did nothing to get banned. And if you're wondering, the membership was $100. Last I've heard, she got no support from Microsoft whatsoever. Feared it could happen to me next, this action caused me to completely abandon the company (their Windows 10 OS doesn't count, as Dell manufactured the Alienware brand and I use their service instead) and move on to Sony. This is the reason I own a PS4 now.

Stephenfisher2001 (talkcontribs)

Well, Microsoft is on this wiki.

SpazJR61 (talkcontribs)

Three words : "Format your PC"

Stephenfisher2001 (talkcontribs)

What's that? I have a Windows 10.

DarkMatterMan4500 (talkcontribs)

While Microsoft has done some shady stuff, it still doesn't make them really evil.

"Xbox Live practically gave birth to online multiplayer as we know it."

TehSmile (talkcontribs)

I may be a PC fanboy, but I always thought that Quake 1 created the online multiplayer...

Seanbuscus2600 (talkcontribs)

I think what they meant is that it made online multiplayer very popular.

Masson Thief (talkcontribs)

I think it was the first online multiplayer service, with downloadable content and stuff. I don't know much because I had it only for a short while.

About the next Xbox...

Seanbuscus2600 (talkcontribs)

How much do y'all wanna bet it'll be all-digital like the Xbox One SAD? Wouldn't be a surprise since they're still repeating mistakes so far.

Gene0129 (talkcontribs)

At least Microsoft isn't being a SJW company.

RoboticBloxxer (talkcontribs)

I don't know what it will turn out to be.

The Double-Edged Sword that is Game Pass

ThunderKat (talkcontribs)

So we all know that Game Pass is Microsoft's solution to Backwards Compatibility, right? While I do agree that it is great for digital preservation, it does have one flaw: and that is the inclusion of brand new games being added to it. I say this because since the deal is that you pay £7.99 a month for full access, it might give way to the excuse of "well, it's only $10, so what did you expect?" as a means to defend mediocre titles. I've already seen this line of thinking with Sea of Thieves, and I've seen it with State of Decay 2, both games having received mediocre reception. I really hope Microsoft doesn't start putting less effort into their games because of Game Pass.

Well, I've waffled on long enough. Thoughts?
