Monkey's Adventures (in Poland known as Tytus, Romek i A'Tomek) is a 2005 platforming game developed by Calaris Studios and published by Play Publishing. The game is based on the popular series of Polish comics with the same title by Henryk Chmielewski under his pseudonym "Papcio Chmiel".
Why It Sucks
- Despite the fact that the game is for younger audiences, the plot is so stupid and crazy. Tytus tells you the story of how Professor T.Alent presents his new invention called "Odponurzacz" (Untie grinning divider) , with the help of which man is able to get rid of bad memories, moods that make up the black liquid called "Ponurol", which is to serve as fuel or fertilizer. Unfortunately, the professor didn't clean up the floor with "ponurol" and soaked in one of the robots. This robot kidnaps a professor whose main characters must save him.
- The main menu is god-awful. In the background, main characters walk on an endless sidewalk with buildings without doors. The main menu itself is copied from other games made in the same engine by same video game developer.
- Awful in-game graphics with horrible looking cut-scenes. It looks like a Nintendo 64 game or 1996 DOS game. The game uses cel-shading, but due to the low quality graphics, this unfortunately does not save.
- The sound effects are repetitive and also copied from the same engine.
- Terrible voice acting. In the Polish version, Professor T. Alent sometimes sounds like a student who learns to dub or an actor who has a mutated voice. Romek's and A'Tomek's voices cause ear bleeding. In the English version, T.Alent sounds like Russian who learns English, Tytus sounds like a giantic chipmunk, Romek and A'Tomek sound like a 12 years old German teenagers.
- As for platforming standards, artificial intelligence, or rather "unintelligence", is poorly done. Sometimes, robots kill each other or get stuck on the walls.
- As a platforming game, it has screwed the most important aspect of this genre, the controls. When Tytus moves left or right, it makes he walks like a crab. When main protagonist moves diagonally (for example: A+W buttons), slo-motion mode is activated. Or controls may be delayed.
- The levels are extremely small. You can pass all stages in 30-40 minutes, including the boss.
- Returning to the boss, this one is extremely simple to defeat. Your task is to destroy it with coconuts, where we are not close to its location.
- When you win, you get a miserable message of congratulations that looks like it was made in Microsoft Paint. And at the end you get a hideous, pixelated cutscene that adds nothing to what you experienced.
- This game is extremely unstable. There are frequent collision errors as falling out of the map, Common stability issues like frequent game-crashing to the desktop.
- Good soundtrack.
- Despite the surreal plot, it is original and is not taken from the comic series.
