In June 2004, Atari's Driv3r, was released to poor reviews by many critics. These included 3/10 from Eurogamer and 5/10 from Gamespot. Fans of the first 2 driver games did not buy it. But did find something.

2 British magazines Xbox World and PSM2 gave the game a 9/10, and readers were surprised at the score for such a bad game. The readers then went onto the forms for both sites, and expressed their opinions on why the 2 magazines gave such high scores to the game, and then they found out Atari actually paid Future Publishing, the publisher behind PSM2 and Xbox World, for good reviews.

Future then removed the posts on the 2 websites, and Atari themselves made up a team of people to post fake positive reviews on many websites for the poorly received game.
